Students are encouraged to participate in sports
activities as a natural extension of the school's physical education
program. Our school participates in the Lansing Area Catholic
School's Basketball League. All students in grades five and six are
eligible to participate. Girls' basketball is in the fall, and the
boys' season is in the winter. This is a unique opportunity to learn
the sport, as all students who wish to play, regardless of their skill
level, are welcomed onto a team. There is a no-cut policy, and all
players are guaranteed playing time each game. The teams are coached
by parent volunteers and anyone wishing to help should contact the school
office or the athletic director. Parents are also asked to assist
with concessions, set-up, and clean up at home games.
It is required that students maintain academic
eligibility during the basketball season. Students are expected to
continue to complete assignments, sustain academic achievement consistent
with their ability, and uphold a code of discipline which exemplifies good
Christian behavior. Teachers will report eligibility status of
students to the principal on a regular basis during basketball season.
Students are also encouraged to participate in sports
offered through the city leagues which provide a wide variety of programs
including soccer, baseball, football, and basketball.
