St. Joseph School is financed
through a variety of means including the Education Trust Fund, a generous
parish subsidy, ongoing fundraisers and tuition paid by parents. Tuition rates
and book fees are reviewed and determined annually by the Education
Commission, upon recommendation of the budget committee. The Parish
Council gives final approval. The budget for the upcoming year is
generally set by the month of April. Since the cost of educating a
student far exceeds the amount of tuition paid, school families are
expected to contribute regularly to the Sunday collection in support of
the parish and the school. A separate tuition rate is charged to
non-parishioners.
Book fees are due on, or before, the first day of school.
Choices of tuition payment plans include:
- Plan A - Tuition is paid in one payment at the
beginning of the school year.
- Plan B - Tuition is paid in two payments: one-half
of total amount due in September, the other half at the beginning of
the second semester in January.
- Plan C - Tuition is paid in ten equal monthly
payments due on the 5th day of each month, September through June,
according to a schedule to be provided each fall. Payments not received
in the school office by the 15th on the month will incur
a $15 late fee.
All tuition must be paid in full before enrollment for the following
year is guaranteed. Education Commission policy states that it is
necessary to deny admittance to students who have an outstanding balance
from the previous school year. Delinquent accounts where there are
extenuating circumstances can be dealt with on an individual basis
through contact with the pastor or principal. A limited number of
scholarships are granted each year and may be applied for through the
school office.
Delinquent Payments: Any tuition payment not received by the payment
due date (or with in the 10 day grace period) shall be considered
delinquent. Parents will be notified in writing that their tuition
has become delinquent and that they must respond or make payment within
five (5) days. Upon notice of delinquency, the parent will have the
following options: 1) Pay the delinquent tuition. 2) Submit for approval,
a written alternative payment plan. 3) Request financial assistance
in writing.
